In today's mail, I received the sweetest fan letter from a 5th grade girl all the way from Scottsdale, AZ., and it made my week!
As part of a class project, she had to write to a company, an organization, or a person who she admired--and she chose ME! In her letter, she said that she enjoyed reading my books and insisted that I write an autobiography about myself someday so that everyone (including her) could learn more about my writing life. After such a surprising request, (to me anyway...I've never really thought of writing an autobio, well, not yet!) she went on to list all sorts of insightful questions that she thought I should answer if/when I ever did. Soooo sweet.
I always say at my author visits that I hope that just one person is touched by something I've written...and today, well, I know someone, one Miss Paige, 5th grade girl, was.
So, thanks, Miss Paige for your lovely letter. Like I said, it made my day--and my whole week. And, thank you creative source for allowing me to string words in the right order to cause a young reader some enjoyment...and the need to write.
PS I wrote her fan letter, too.
PSS Have you had any special fan letters delivered to you lately? I'd love to hear about them. PJM
