PoetryNow and then, I will share some of my poetry here. So, please watch this section for all kinds of poems.
Some of the poems featured below are those I have written for family, friends--and a few of my publishers. The poem BE SURROUNDED is one that I wrote for a holiday card that I sent out.(I always make my own holiday cards. You should think about doing that, too!) For me, making a card is giving a bit of yourself to your loved ones + friends. LOVE THAT'S GOLDEN is a poem that I wrote about and for my parents on their 50th wedding anniversay. Their love taught me a whole bunch about love. I hope you enjoy my poems and that they will inspire you to write some of your own. Happy writing. Be SurroundedSurround yourself with family

Love that's GoldenLove begins
It smiles And frowns Love is a summer day An admiring gaze A shared laugh Love is a commitment That lasts And lasts And lasts Love is celebrating And more celebrating Love is staying close And leaning on each other Love is out of this world And a different world Love is summers And winters Love is familiar places favorite places faraway places and dark spaces Love is casual and all dressed up and sometimes checks and plaids Love is holidays together celebrating a milestone remembering a sacrifice Love is comfortable Love is fearless Love--the real stuff The kind you have The golden Beholden Holding NEVER ends! Brother vs. BrotherBROTHER AGAINST BROTHER appeared in the Civil War issue of APPLESEEDS Magazine. (Published by Carus/ Cobblestone Publishing) While doing some research for this poem, I was amazed by the fact that brothers from the same families lined up against each other on different sides of the war. I wondered what that might have been like and if they had ever imagined such a thing happening. |
