Writing beginning readers is a whole lot of fun--and hard work. When I write a reader like a ROOKIE READER (or a PEBBLE, PEBBLE PLUS, DK Reader, etc.) I have to research and write as craftfully as I do with longer and higher level titles. I need to know everything about the subject and then carefully compose the most interesting and lyrical sentences for early readers to read.
